Bills Fail to make Playoffs after BBC Bowl appearance..

AP - Billz.com
After a season that saw the Bills go all the way to the BBC Bowl and lose by a mere field goal, the Buffalo bills off-season begins early this year. With 1 final game remaining, the bills have learned that even with a win against the Colts they will not be appearing in the playoffs this year. Fans are disappointed, but for Coach and GM Jerome he sees plenty of bright sides to this season. We caught up with Jerome and he had this to say...
"We lost 5 of our 6 games by a total of 16 points.. We were in all of those games and ended up losing in the final seconds by a FG or failing to score ourselves on a game winning drive. That shows our team is capable of winning and we could very well only have 1 loss. We need to get better at closing out games. With Byron not looking like the QB he was last year, we went to our rookie Big Game Nate. It took Nate awhile but he has come on strong towards the end of the season. He has become a big time threat throwing the ball and I am excited to see what he will do next season."
Improve through out the season is exactly what QB Nate Davis has done. Through the first 11 weeks Davis only had 1 game over 100 QB rating and had 102 completions out of 194 attempts. In that stretch he threw 13 TD's and 11 Picks. Over the last 5 games he has really improved and looks very confident out there throwing 62 Completions on 89 attempts. He has also equaled his mark from the first 11 weeks with 13 TD's and lowered his INT's to only 3. Every game in that stretch his QB rating has been over 100. It will be exciting to see what this young QB can do next season.
Nate Davis is not the only Rookie that has made a impact for his team this year. Two other rookies on the defensive side of the ball have also worked their way into the starting lineup and have looked nothing short of impressive. Rookie CB Jairus Byrd and rookie LB Marcus Freeman. Coach Jerome had this to say about his 2 rookie standouts on defense.
"JBYRD has been a big asset for our secondary. He is always in the right spot to make the play. He only had 3 INT's on the year but many times he just knocked the ball down or dropped it. Once he gets more time under his belt he will be snatching those balls and looking to score. What really impressed me about him was his tackling ability. He always takes the correct angle and makes great stops. Marcus has been a good key for us, he doesnt always start but when he does he makes his presence felt on the field. Marcus is a stat line filler, whether its sacks, picks, forced fumbles, or tackles.. The boy does it all. We were having problems from our outside LB's in previous seasons and he has definitely improved players around him such as Pat Willis. Pat loves him and says he makes the game easier for him."
Another bright spot for the Bills is HB Frank Sylvester. In his second year and going to his second Pro Bowl. He has a chance this week against the colts to lead the league in rushing. He came in second last year and only trails the leader by 46 Yards. Look for Sylvester to get his first Rushing title in only his second year, and hopefully many more to come.
We tried to get some insight as to what coach Jerome was looking for in this years draft, but he refused to comment on that. Fans have a lot to look forward to in seasons to come with all this young talent the Bills have. It will be interesting to see what the Bills do this off season.
