Eagles defeat Lions; Giants up next...
Posted by: eagles on 2010-08-28

Eagles Coach Scott takes the podium -
“We had a good a win against a very talented team and coach in the Lions. Any win in the BBC is a good win. We didn’t get any players hurt and having Devin Moore back; well you saw tonight how much he brings to our offense with long runs, tough runs and getting in the end-zone twice. We passed OK tonight but we threw too many interceptions. Byron has to make better decisions when he is in trouble or throw the ball away. His last interception that was a TD for them re- opened the door for Detroit and they almost pulled it out. That’s not to take anything away from the Lions DB’s. Marcus McCauley made a hell of a pick and had a great run back for the score. Willie Oliver haunted us too with two interceptions… there is a reason he now leads the league in picks. Fortunately the offense held onto the ball and drove down the field to preserve the win. Our guys made some good plays too. Milton Mack had a beautiful pick near the goal line against their star receiver preventing a score and Frank Erb had a good pick to set up one of our scores. We need to eliminate these mistakes if we want to go further this season. All in all a good win against a talented team….Time to get ready for the Giants… Time is yours”

Are you getting concerned about Leftwich’s recent rash of picks? Any chance Chad Henne steps in?
NO – to both questions.

Will Devin Moore be rested more in the future seeing how banged up and injured he gets?
NO – He is our horse… but with that said Deangelo Williams does provide Devin a breather and Brandon Jacobs has really been big getting some tough runs inside.

Any concerns facing your division rival Giants this week?
Well… No concerns as far as being ready and on the injury front we are not in bad shape. Obviously with our record and the Giants right behind us, our past history, all the hype, a BBC national broadcast this week… this will be a big game. Let’s face it - this is when things get really fun in this league and I count our team fortunate to be involved. I’ll remind you that last season our roles were reversed with the Giants being 9-0 and we were able to get a big win… So I guarantee you they are very hungry for payback. We will study them and practice like we always do. Let’s also keep in mind they will be out there relatively healthy this time with the exception of Manning… Last time we played them I counted six of their starters out during the game.

“ The trash talk around the Eagles is growing by the week with Buddy Ryan’s quip about Lions halfback S.J. McRae calling him “B.J” McRae in the pregame. Team defensive leader Trent Cole was quoted saying “Man! When Coach Ryan said that the guys in the locker room just fell about all over the place. It definitely worked as we went out there and played a lot looser. We can’t wait to hear what he says about the Giants… or the Midgets as Buddy calls them“ The Giants have already been posting locker room material taking shots at the Philly fans… Rumor has it they will be bringing out the dead Eagles to be hanging in the Meadowlands. It looks to be a very animated and colorful week leading up to game time. From the Nova-Care Complex in South Philly I’m Sal Palantonio”
