Ravens statement following suspension

The Baltimore Ravens will be playing this week without star linebacker Germaine Willis, as a result of a poor gameplay conduct penalty enforced by the BBC officials. More directly, for overusage of the “Hit Stick.” While initially we were very upset with the penalty, as a few days went by some things began to sink in.
First and foremost, we wish to apologize to the entire BBC for the leaguewide warning that every owner was given. While we've been thoroughly assured that we are not the sole party responsible for this warning, the fact is that we are a part of it, and for that, we say to you, the other owners of there league, “I'm sorry.” We will be working diligently to correct the problems we have had so that this is not a repeat occurance.
I had felt that other owners that I was facing were doing things that they should not, and while whether or not I was right can certainly be debated, the fact that I took the wrong course of action can not. Don't do what I did guys. Don't be a vigilante and take matters into your own hands. The right thing to do is to keep playing a straight game, regardless of what you may interpret as poor play from your opponent. Let the guys who are here to make that call decide if your opponent is breaking the rules. Will it be possible that you may get another loss or 2 on your record by the end of the season as a result? Sure. But you will be able to look yourself in the mirror after the game and at least say “Hey, I did the right thing.” Instead of “Well, it was a shitty game, but at least I won.” That should not be anyone's goal. I became shortsighted, and as a result, lowered the level of my own gameplay. Don't let that happen to you.
Again, guys, I am sorry for my actions. And I look forward to giving every opponent I face from here on a competitive, yet enjoyable experience when we face off.
